The fault in our stars
The theme in the fault in our stars is love is eternal. The book the fault in our stars is about two characters hazel, the main character and she falls in love with a boy named Augustus. Both hazel and Augustus have cancer and fight cancer together this was a very dramatic and amazing book.
I think one of the most important times of their love is the first time they met. The first time they met was when Hazel’s mom signed Hazel up for a cancer support group, this support group was the same support group Augustus was in. The moment Hazel entered the building (the characters called it the literal heart of Jesus)she saw Augustus and it was love at first sight, Augustus felt the same way about Hazel. I think this scene really supports my theme by showing us that they knew they would hold on and never let go.
The most romantic part of the book is when Hazel and Augustus go to Amsterdam to speak to their favorite book’s author, his name is Van Houten. I think that Amsterdam was one of their highlights of the their love because they had a romantic dinner right on the harbor watching the sun set drinking champagne together, to prove his love Augustus kissed Hazel right in front of the setting sun. This part really shows that they loved each other so much as friends and lovers, even though they both had cancer they were willing to die for one another. This really proves that they will love each other till the end.
The most important part of their love was when they get back from Amsterdam and Augustus is diagnosed that his cancer is back and that he will die. Hazel later found out that he will die soon leaving her speechless and heart broken. Augustus tells Hazel to write a eulogy to read at his funeral. The next day they go to the literal heart of Jesus to practice her eulogy with Augustus but she couldn’t, she loved him so much but she knew she couldn’t do anything. The next day Augustus dies leaving Hazel miserable knowing that she will never see Augustus ever again. Even after he died she still loved him so much, and she held on to him even when he was diagnosed with his terminal cancer. This shows us that love is eternal, and that Hazel never let go of him and she never will.
In conclusion the theme of this book is that love is eternal. Both characters proved that love was eternal throughout the whole book, and even when Augustus died she still loved him. I really recommend this book to middle school kids.
